..so the best thing you can do is prepare for the inevitable.
First – Do you have a Go-Bag yet? This is an absolute must. As a wildfire approaches, make sure it is in your car – or better yet – have one in your home for shelter-in-place events, and one in the car for quick escape.
Then, according to Cal Fire, here are your next steps when a wildfire is near your home. Many of them may be new to you.
- Bring flammable items like patio furniture, doormats and trash receptacles indoors.
- Close all windows and doors.
- Move anything that can burn to the middle of each room
- Shut off all air conditioning or heating
- Shut propane tanks off and move propane-fueled BBQ equipment away from the house
- Leave exterior and interior lights on so that your home is visible
It’s all about preparation – preparation – preparation.
