It’s the lazy, hazy, crazy, dog days of summer. It’s the last hurrah before the September transition to school and a pleasant end to summer vacation. I imagine an invitational theme there!
I sure hope that your Labor Day was filled with less labor, no traffic and splendid relaxation with family, neighbors and friends. Wood smoke BBQ and a baseball game followed by s’mores. That’s what I’m talking about! Today’s golf was marked by a tepid, humid morning with a pleasant day of friendships renewed and celebrated. Terrific scores, including an 89 by Sue Park, who broke 90 for the first time this year. Sue was also at the money handout for chip-ins at #3 (WOWSER) and also Betty Chase chipped in at #2.
Sue and Betty are opening a small lending operation on their winnings called, “living large on the fly”. Nice playing, ladies! Birdies were on order for the chosen few of Cindy Fuller #6 and Helen Varenkamp #2. Great scores from Janelle Salvatierra with a gross 86 from the 3/2’s and Camille Giuliodibari with a 90 from the 2’s, flight 1, Betty Sharps gross 102 for flight 2 from the 2’s, and Kathy Apgar, 98, flight 3. The gross winner from 2/1 combo and 1 tee was Janis Kiernan with 102.
This week is Captain’s Trophy. It’s also an EC day. Get those scores on those yellow cards. On deck is the Club Championship on September 10 and 17. See Vivian Brown or Judy Rodriguez for details, the flyer is in the posting room. Low gross score over the field from the 3/2 tees wins in a two-day aggregate tournament. Last year’s winner Susan Anderson picks the menu for lunch. A new tradition is started.
The Village Challenge is also just around the bend on October 6, 13 and 20. Teams are chosen on September 17 at the hole in one appetizer party and play is always a fantastic scramble of great team play. Come join the fun. Talk to Janet Gonzales and Gisele Barber to sign up.
