All of us beat the heat for sure on September 8 with our 8:45 a.m. shotgun start. Early tee times are good when there’s a heat advisory for the day. The following ladies should be congratulated for chip-ins: Cynie Jackson hole 11, Carleen Corsello hole 15, Judy Owen hole 17, Betty Chase hole 18, and Debbie Marti hole 18. Congratulations also to Judy Owen who had the only birdie today on hole 15.

As of this date, there are 77 signed up for the Fall Foursomes Exchange on September 22. We are expecting close to 90 attendees, so sign up today, www.womens9holegolf.vgcc.club, if you want to have your spot guaranteed.

As a reminder, we have a new event, which is the Sip & Swap on Friday, September 25 at Foothill Center from 2 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. There will be complimentary wine and cheese while you shop for some gently used treasures. To qualify for this shopping event, you’ll need to go to Gisele Barber’s house, 9043 Village View Loop, and drop off at least three, but not more than 15, of your unwanted golf items. Gisele will have a bin at her front door. Don’t forget to put your name on the bag of items so that you can get admission into the Sip & Swap.

In conclusion, after a particularly poor round, a golfer spotted a lake as she walked despondently up the 18th fairway. She looked at her caddie and said, “I’ve played so badly all day, I want to drown myself in that lake.” The caddie quickly replied, “I don’t think you could keep your head down that long.” So, ladies, keep your head down, but also have fun!
